Holy Crap, I am behind!

I didn't realize it had been that long! I have become a blog that annoys me - too long between posts!

Here's the recap:
- Left for St. Thomas right after I posted last - AMAZING - when can I go back?
- Started back to school the Monday I got back.
- New position at school - great experience but CRAZY busy - I get up at 4:30 every morning and I am continuing to tutor 3 or 4 days a week after school. And now I have taken on tutoring in the morning from 6:30-7:30 on M, T, and W. I am also going in on Saturdays and getting more done! It's nice to be challenged and inspired to work HARD!

The downside, what I am not doing:
- Working out - I have great plans at night as I fall asleep (around 9:30) but they just don't seem to happen in the wee hours of the morning or in the evenings when I get home ready to go to sleep
- Not cooking as much - I have made a few new things - tzatziki and avocado ranch dressing were both yummy but I am just getting by by doing the basics at the moment!

Goal:
- Figure out how to download pics from the camera so I can actually post them!

The Icing on the Cake

So let's finish off the 4th of July story. I left off with us leaving the hotel and going across the street to a MUCH BETTER hotel. JC went in to get us checked in and I headed back to the good ole crappy hotel to return the second key that was still in my purse. I didn't want them to have any reason to charge us for anything!!

When I got pack to the new hotel I parked and proceeded to look through my purse for the receipt for the good ole crappy hotel. I left the car running because I wasn't sure JC would get a room. While I am practically inside my purse looking for the receipt JC knocks on the window and says we are checked in. I turn the car off and get out feeling totally stressed that I can't find the receipt - I hate losing things. JC says he didn't get a receipt from the new hotel either - they must give it at the end.

So now I'm feeling better about things and we go up to our new room. It is sooooo much better and we get breakfast in the morning! I am finally starting to relax. JC and I are chatting and getting ready for bed and he hears a car start up. He goes to the window to check - it's another car from the track. All of our cars have custom exhaust - we like to think of this as a built in alarm system! Who knew I would actually love the way my car sounds - she purrs!

So I head into the bathroom and the phone rings. Always a weird thing to have the hotel phone ring - makes you think, who knows we're here? :-) I hear JC say What?!! We'll be right down. He tells me my car has rolled into a truck! Holy crap, we haul ass downstairs.

And there before us is my car getting way to up close and personal with a truck. The guy that saw it happen said he wondered what dumb ass couldn't drive. I am saying many profanities and trying not to cry. JC is telling me it's ok, it's ok. The hotel attendant goes to get the owner - turns out he's living there because a pipe burst in his house and he's renovating. He was very nice about it and we waited for the police. It was his company's car and there was very little damage but we had to get the police report for insurance.

Surprisingly, the police showed up within 10 minutes. I was impressed for the 4th of July. The cop asked us which one of us couldn't drive. At least he was funny. He also wanted to know if the car had been drinking. Ha ha ha, very funny.

When it was all said and done I was embarrassed, mad at myself for being distracted and not setting the ebrake when I was searching through my purse, and royally pissed off that I had messed up my car. That's just extra money out the door. JC was wonderful about it and kept saying it was no big deal. I look at my bumper every day and just keep thinking Grrrrrr. So now, not only do I have an ass crack but I have a cracked ass!

At least we can say the 4th was memorable!

It's Good to Have Help

So here is our oldest cat Fatso helping with the laundry. He is fondly called Grumpy Old Man. He likes to keep me company in the laundry room, beacuse that's where he's fed! Behind the hanging clothes is his food bowl and what's a better place to wait for food than a pile of warm, clean laundry?

The 4th

Well to start, it's 16 days past the 4th of July but I am reminded daily of that special evening. JC started the weekend at Road Atlanta for a Driving School event. One of those drive fast, take chances kind of thing. This is his second and he is totally addicted. I appreciate his "obsession" as I like to call it from the comfort of the stands!

I arrived around 2 and checked into our hotel. It was a quick check-in and all I did was go into the room to pee. I left the room with that icky feeling. When I got to the track I mentioned the luxury suite he had chosen for us. Then guilt kicked in and I figured I was being bratty, so I told him it was just me and the place was a bit old.

We enjoyed the evening at the track and went to a Mexican restaurant for dinner. A Mexican Sports Bar - yeah, nothing I had heard of before. Turns out that was their last weekend as a Mexican Sports Bar and they were changing into a Club/Bar later in the week. What does that mean? No mexican food - we could have burgers, salads, and oddly enough fajitas. Most everyone had steak fajitas - no peppers, but onions and mushrooms -weird. I had a taco salad. Boring, I know. But not when it has no lettuce. What's better in a salad than any kind of lettuce - Cabbage? Mmmm, delicious! Really the whole meal was funny. But good people and alcohol made it a fun evening.

By the time we got back to the hotel it was 10:30. Not late, but JC had to be at the track by 7:30 the next morning. We went to our room and I showed him our love palace for the evening. He said it wasn't so bad. Until he went to lock the door and it wouldn't lock. The lock would not turn. When he opened the door it made a horrible screeching sound. An alarm system of sorts. He went outside to see if it locked by itself, it did but we were missing that sense of control when you get to physically turn the lock! Not only did the main lock not work, but the securtiy bolt was missing a crucial part and the door trim was kicked off the wall. It appeared as though the door had been kicked in at some point. I was feeling all warm and snuggly now!

I then decided to live on the edge and check the connecting door to the next room. I just wanted to know how many ways people could attack us (I have a very overactive imagination)! The door opened, but not far because of the widely known safety couch in front of it. As an extra percaution, the opening to the next room had been covered - in wood and carpet! Upon moving the couch I found a few dead roaches. Yeah, pets!

JC went to the office to switch our room. While I was hovering near the bed and trying really hard not to have to actually sit on it, I noticed a shiny something under the edge of the couch. Natural curiousity of course, I lifted up the edge of the couch and saw a used condom and wrapper in all it's glory!

JC was very happy to see my new find when he returned to the room. At that point he told me the owners would not move us and that maintanence had been called. There were like 6 cars in the parking lot and you don't want to move us? Joy.

We chose not to wait for maintenance after returning to our room and seeing this woman sitting in a car by our room. No biggie. She was soon joined by a huge truck that backed into a space. She then backed up next to them. And then they stayed in their cars and waited. For what? We didn't wait to see the action.

We chose not to stay at this luxury hotel. The poor woman at the desk felt bad, but couldn't do anything for us she said because the owners were in church. We left and drove across the street to the other hotel. Country Suites hotel looked like the most divine piece of hotel heaven there every was.

I'll come back for part two later. It was the part of the evening that made everything worthwhile! NOT!!

Let's Get this Party Started - Quickly

(I know you're singing in your head right now - I am!) I have been throwing around the idea of blogging for awhile. Everybody else is doing it, right? I very much enjoy reading my friends' blogs and have found a few others that I enjoy checking in with from time to time.

I got stuck for awhile because I couldn't think of a name. As I said in my profile, I am very good at coming up with the ideas, but don't always go all the way to completion when the time comes. We'll see how this pans out - I might very well lose momentum before I even get started!

In talking to my friend M. tonight I realized I finally had the push I needed. I told her about our interesting July 4th activities and she said that's the type of stuff I need in my blog! Well, that gave me the push to come home and begin the blogging process. I've already had a ton of ideas to blog about it the upcoming days. But, will I do it?
