The 4th

Well to start, it's 16 days past the 4th of July but I am reminded daily of that special evening. JC started the weekend at Road Atlanta for a Driving School event. One of those drive fast, take chances kind of thing. This is his second and he is totally addicted. I appreciate his "obsession" as I like to call it from the comfort of the stands!

I arrived around 2 and checked into our hotel. It was a quick check-in and all I did was go into the room to pee. I left the room with that icky feeling. When I got to the track I mentioned the luxury suite he had chosen for us. Then guilt kicked in and I figured I was being bratty, so I told him it was just me and the place was a bit old.

We enjoyed the evening at the track and went to a Mexican restaurant for dinner. A Mexican Sports Bar - yeah, nothing I had heard of before. Turns out that was their last weekend as a Mexican Sports Bar and they were changing into a Club/Bar later in the week. What does that mean? No mexican food - we could have burgers, salads, and oddly enough fajitas. Most everyone had steak fajitas - no peppers, but onions and mushrooms -weird. I had a taco salad. Boring, I know. But not when it has no lettuce. What's better in a salad than any kind of lettuce - Cabbage? Mmmm, delicious! Really the whole meal was funny. But good people and alcohol made it a fun evening.

By the time we got back to the hotel it was 10:30. Not late, but JC had to be at the track by 7:30 the next morning. We went to our room and I showed him our love palace for the evening. He said it wasn't so bad. Until he went to lock the door and it wouldn't lock. The lock would not turn. When he opened the door it made a horrible screeching sound. An alarm system of sorts. He went outside to see if it locked by itself, it did but we were missing that sense of control when you get to physically turn the lock! Not only did the main lock not work, but the securtiy bolt was missing a crucial part and the door trim was kicked off the wall. It appeared as though the door had been kicked in at some point. I was feeling all warm and snuggly now!

I then decided to live on the edge and check the connecting door to the next room. I just wanted to know how many ways people could attack us (I have a very overactive imagination)! The door opened, but not far because of the widely known safety couch in front of it. As an extra percaution, the opening to the next room had been covered - in wood and carpet! Upon moving the couch I found a few dead roaches. Yeah, pets!

JC went to the office to switch our room. While I was hovering near the bed and trying really hard not to have to actually sit on it, I noticed a shiny something under the edge of the couch. Natural curiousity of course, I lifted up the edge of the couch and saw a used condom and wrapper in all it's glory!

JC was very happy to see my new find when he returned to the room. At that point he told me the owners would not move us and that maintanence had been called. There were like 6 cars in the parking lot and you don't want to move us? Joy.

We chose not to wait for maintenance after returning to our room and seeing this woman sitting in a car by our room. No biggie. She was soon joined by a huge truck that backed into a space. She then backed up next to them. And then they stayed in their cars and waited. For what? We didn't wait to see the action.

We chose not to stay at this luxury hotel. The poor woman at the desk felt bad, but couldn't do anything for us she said because the owners were in church. We left and drove across the street to the other hotel. Country Suites hotel looked like the most divine piece of hotel heaven there every was.

I'll come back for part two later. It was the part of the evening that made everything worthwhile! NOT!!
